Pheu Thai Party Leader to Visit Cambodia in March

Phnom Penh: Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the President of the Pheu Thai Party, is scheduled to visit Cambodia from March 18 to 19, following an invitation from the leader of the Cambodian People's Party, Hun Sen. This announcement was made public through a press release by the Cambodian People's Party on February 23, 2024, highlighting the visit's aim to foster discussions on mutual interests and cooperation between the neighboring nations.

The visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening the relationship between the two political parties, emphasizing the deep-rooted ties and collaborative efforts that define their bond. Paetongtarn Shinawatra's agenda includes bilateral talks with Hun Sen, as well as courtesy calls on other high-ranking officials, including the President of the Senate, Say Chhum, the President of the National Assembly, Khuon Sodary, and the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Manet.

This high-level exchange comes on the heels of a recent interaction between Hun Sen and Thaksin Shinawatra, Paetongtarn's father, in Bangkok on February 21, 2024. During this meeting, Hun Sen extended an invitation to Paetongtarn Shinawatra to visit Cambodia, an invitation she has accepted for the dates of March 18 to 19.

The forthcoming visit of the Pheu Thai Party President is anticipated to not only enhance the political dialogue between Cambodia and Thailand but also to explore new avenues for cooperation that will benefit the people of both countries. This event underscores the importance of diplomatic and political exchanges in the Southeast Asian region, reflecting a commitment to regional stability and development.
